Sarah opened The Stemmery in 2017.
Years before I opened the Stemmery, my sister asked me to put together some flowers she had purchased at Trader Joe’s and Costco into bouquets for her wedding. After the wedding, one of her friends told me I should think about being a florist. It had never occurred to me before, but the idea took hold. Fast-forward to 2016, I had done a handful of weddings for friends and worked in a local flower shop for a season and felt like I’d learned the skills to give it a go on my own. I spent the year living overseas and was developing my plans, branding, website and everything else I needed to launch my business when I returned home. In January of 2017, I hit the ground running launching my flower subscriptions and the rest is history.
Now, we operate out of a full studio instead of the second bedroom in my old apartment and we have an amazing small team helping answer your emails, create our floral designs and deliver them to you!
From the beginning, we have been committed to sourcing our flowers locally as much of the year as possible (about March or April through November), minimizing waste and investing in our community. These values remain as important to us as ever.
